How To Order

Thank you for your interest in Photography West Gallery. Our staff will continue to review portfolios by appointment only. These portfolios must meet our personal definition of fine art photography as defined by Brett Weston (ie each photograph must be personally hand printed by the artist – no use of computers, commercial labs or paid assistants). At Photography West Gallery we are dedicated to maintaining the deeper spirit and traditional craft of this sensitive art medium and as such, are only interested in reviewing 20-30 finished prints. We do not review slides or unfinished proof prints.

If you would like to visit Carmel, we would be happy to meet with you. Our in-person portfolio reviews take place at 9am and are concluded by our galley opening time of 10am. If you wish to set up an appointment, please call the gallery at least 2 to 3 weeks in advance.

We do not accept photographs by mail, as it is not possible for us to adequately review them with our current workload. More importantly, we feel mailed submissions fail to give your photographs the kind of personal presentation required to make an evaluation of their true artistic merit and craftsmanship. Lastly, as I’m sure you can understand, we do not want to incur responsibility for your valuable unsolicited artwork on our professional premises.
